Whole-food / Other — also: LC-Plasma, JCM 5805, Lactococcus lactis Plasma

One ingredient, seen the whole way through: what it is, how it works, the honest evidence, the form that matters, the systems it touches, and the studies behind it.

EmergingCell

Real human evidence for the specific strain. A pooled analysis of eight RCTs in 619 adults (Kato 2025) found LC-Plasma modestly maintained pDC activation and cut cough by about 0.69 days and feverishness by about 0.26 days per 28 days — small, honest absolute effects. A COVID-19 trial (Yamamoto 2025) was null on its primary symptom score, so do not claim infection prevention or treatment. Kirin (the strain owner) funded and co-authored the studies — disclosed, not a reason to dismiss real measured outcomes. pDC activation is not automatically desirable in every autoimmune or interferon-driven condition.

How it works

  • Sense — a heat-treated (postbiotic) strain studied for activating plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), the immune sensors that coordinate front-line antiviral signaling

  • Maintain — pooled human trials point to modest support for maintaining pDC activation markers and slightly fewer cold-symptom days under everyday viral exposure

  • Adapt — the immune-marker shifts are an adaptive readiness response, not a treatment effect

  • Exchange — as a heat-killed (non-viable) postbiotic, LC-Plasma does not need to survive stomach acid or colonize the gut to exert its effect -- plasmacytoid dendritic cells in gut-associated lymphoid tissue are proposed to directly recognize intact bacterial cell-wall components, a different requirement profile than a live probiotic

Form matters

The same nutrient can be made in very different forms — and a study done on one form does not automatically apply to another. Methylcobalamin is not cyanocobalamin; magnesium glycinate is not magnesium oxide; a whole-food extract is not the synthetic isolate that was studied. Two things decide whether what is in the bottle behaves like the research: the exact form, and independent lab verification (a Certificate of Analysis) that the form and dose on the label are truly what is inside. Without a COA, you are trusting a label, not the science.
