One of three anthocyanin sources (35mg) in ageLOC Meta's tested blend; no confirmed standalone bilberry dose in Eye Formula. Night-vision claim is largely folklore-to-mechanism, not RCT-confirmed. Structure/function only.
How it works
Exchange — anthocyanins are associated with improved ocular and peripheral microcirculation in mechanistic and small human studies
Maintain — antioxidant protection against oxidative damage in vascular and retinal tissue
Perceive — historically studied for night-vision/adaptation support, though modern controlled evidence for this specific claim is weak
Sense — bilberry anthocyanins are proposed to support rhodopsin (visual purple) regeneration speed in the retina, the specific mechanistic claim behind the traditional 'night vision' association -- a plausible pathway that nonetheless remains unconfirmed by modern controlled human trials at typical supplement doses
Exchange — anthocyanin bioavailability is generally low (often under 5% reaching systemic circulation intact), with much of the rest metabolized by gut bacteria into smaller phenolic acids that may carry their own, less-studied biological activity
Form matters
The same nutrient can be made in very different forms — and a study done on one form does not automatically apply to another. Methylcobalamin is not cyanocobalamin; magnesium glycinate is not magnesium oxide; a whole-food extract is not the synthetic isolate that was studied. Two things decide whether what is in the bottle behaves like the research: the exact form, and independent lab verification (a Certificate of Analysis) that the form and dose on the label are truly what is inside. Without a COA, you are trusting a label, not the science.
