How it works
Maintain — plant-derived ceramides mirror the ceramides of the skin's stratum corneum, studied for supporting the skin moisture barrier and reducing transepidermal water loss
Build — dietary ceramide precursors contribute to the intercellular lipid matrix that keeps skin hydrated
Exchange — plant glucosylceramides are broken down in the gut and reassembled by skin cells using the ceramide-precursor building blocks (sphingoid base and fatty acid) absorbed from digestion, rather than the intact plant ceramide molecule itself traveling to skin unchanged
Maintain — human stratum corneum contains at least a dozen distinct ceramide subclasses in a specific ratio, and plant-derived ceramide precursors do not necessarily reconstruct that exact ratio, an honest limit on how directly 'plant ceramides' can be equated with the skin's own ceramide architecture
Form matters
The same nutrient can be made in very different forms — and a study done on one form does not automatically apply to another. Methylcobalamin is not cyanocobalamin; magnesium glycinate is not magnesium oxide; a whole-food extract is not the synthetic isolate that was studied. Two things decide whether what is in the bottle behaves like the research: the exact form, and independent lab verification (a Certificate of Analysis) that the form and dose on the label are truly what is inside. Without a COA, you are trusting a label, not the science.
