Botanical -- also: lentinan, lentinula edodes, shiitake

How it works

  • Maintain -- lentinan and other beta-glucan polysaccharides show immune-cell-modulating activity in preclinical models

  • Exchange -- eritadenine, a shiitake-specific compound, is studied for modulating lipid metabolism in animal models

  • Sense -- lentinan is also studied for stimulating macrophage and NK-cell activity via similar beta-glucan pattern-recognition receptors (Dectin-1, complement receptor 3) described for other medicinal-mushroom beta-glucans in this library

  • Adapt -- shiitake requires specific hot-water or alcohol extraction to concentrate lentinan and eritadenine respectively, since the two compounds have different solubility profiles -- whole dried shiitake powder delivers a much lower concentration of either than a standardized extract

Form matters

The same nutrient can be made in very different forms -- and a study done on one form does not automatically apply to another. Methylcobalamin is not cyanocobalamin; magnesium glycinate is not magnesium oxide; a whole-food extract is not the synthetic isolate that was studied. Two things decide whether what is in the bottle behaves like the research: the exact form, and independent lab verification (a Certificate of Analysis) that the form and dose on the label are truly what is inside. Without a COA, you are trusting a label, not the science.
